On Monday, petitions for contempt of court regarding Sheikh Rashid’s arrest and transfer to Karachi were heard by Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri.

Sheikh Rashid’s attorney claimed during the proceeding that his client was subjected to political interrogation and violence for six hours at an unknown location.

“I do not understand over the increasing number of cases against politicians where this process will stop,” Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri stated. The information secretary and managing director of PTV were the targets of terrorist attacks, and you are now being targeted in the same way.

The court was also informed by Rashid’s attorney that a third Murree case had been filed against him.

Justice Jahangiri stated that the law mandates that an arrest made in one case applies to all related cases. He questioned the legality of registering FIRs for the same incident in multiple cities.

The court ordered Karachi and Balochistan police to stop investigating Sheikh Rashid after the argument.

The hearing was then postponed until February 9 by the high court, which sent notices to the bar councils, attorney general, and advocate general.
