Rawalpindi Women University holds 2nd International Moot of Sciences
Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed emphasized the need to solution based research in academia. He further stressed that although our researchers are publishing number of papers annually yet our indigenous problems are still there. His remarks highlighted character building of the students along with their academic and professional training. He expressed these views while addressing the opening ceremony of the second international conference organized by Rawalpindi Women University on the theme of “Revamped Scientific Outlook of 21st Century, 2023”. HEC chairman also inaugurated central laboratory of research at Rawalpindi Women University.
The chief organizer of the conference, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal in her opening remarks emphasized that the purpose of multi-disciplinary conference is to provide a platform to researchers, academicians, and relevant stakeholders to discuss challenges of the 21st century and their possible solution. She further elaborated the need of Industrial linkage, collaborative work and student exposure to the experts and industries through such platforms.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Mujahid Rector Pakistan Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology Haripur, presented his extensive work on applications of research in aerospace. He emphasized that the current challenges require indigenous solutions and we need to address the issue on priority basis. This can only be achieved through graduates who are self-sufficient in research and should work on products that are not just focused on one area of a society but should be beneficial for the whole mankind.
Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, former Vice Chancellor of Lahore College for Women University, Lahore emphasized the role of women in various fields of sciences. She stressed that women progress is not only progress of one person but progress of families and nation. In her concluding remarks she stressed on the academia-industry linkages and therefore the current challenges require industry board in academia for collaborative work.
The conference included panel discussions, 151 oral and 55 poster presentations, 24 keynote speeches in various fields of sciences in which national and international researchers presented their empirical findings.
It should be noted that according to the vision and mission of Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal, not only the international conference is organized every year, but 26 pre-conference workshops were also successfully organized in each department.
