‘Cannot abandon our Muslim family’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday assured earthquake affected Turkiye brethren that they were like family and that they could not abandon their Muslim family in this difficult time.

He made this comment while giving a speech on Friday in Ankara at a ceremony to transfer supplies for emergency aid to Turkiye authorities.

Shehbaz recalled the devastation he had witnessed firsthand after visiting earthquake-affected areas where Pakistani rescue teams had already begun rescuing people.

He stated that although Pakistani and Turkiyean people speak different languages and live thousands of miles apart, they share a heart and dream of their Turkiyean brothers and sisters at night.

Shehbaz went on to say that Pakistanis cannot forget the Turkiye people’s kindness. After devastating natural disasters, Turkiye people opened their hearts and wallets to raise money for Pakistanis in need. At this critical juncture, Pakistanis cannot forget their Turkiye brothers and sisters.

The prime minister went on to say that during his visit to devastated areas and conversations with Turkish authorities, he learned that they would only focus on providing winterized and fireproof tents rather than food and clothing.

He went on to say that he would return to Pakistan later on Friday and that on Saturday he would host a meeting of all the tent manufacturers in the country to ensure that the demands of Turkiye relatives would be met as quickly as possible.

He stated that these tents would be delivered using any and all modes of transportation, including air, sea, and land.

NDMA sends goods to Turkiye by land. Meanwhile, a group of trucks carrying aid supplies and heavy machinery entered Iran from the Balochistan-Taftan border.

The National Logistics Company’s (NLC) trucks are traveling via land to Turkiye.

After driving through Iran, they will proceed to Turkiye to deliver their cargo.
