PML-N, PTI, PPP leaders among 2,400 beneficiaries of NAB law changes, SC told

As a result of amendments to the NAB law over the past three years, 2,400 suspects benefited from the changes, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, his brother and former premier Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Zardari and former finance minister Shaukat Tarin, reveal official documents submitted before the Supreme Court.

There were allegations against these suspects of power abuse and corruption totaling Rs650 billion. Over the past three years, either the current PDM administration or the previous PTI administration have implemented the changes.

According to the information that NAB provided to the court, the amendments resulted in the closure of 1,650 suspect cases and the return of 750 cases to the bureau by accountability courts.

In addition, the amendments helped 69% of government employees, who saw their cases either resolved or returned to NAB.

In addition, 11% of politicians’ cases were either dropped or returned.

750 important cases were either transferred or dropped. In the past three years, approximately 120 people who were accused under the previous law were found not guilty.

According to the documents, approximately 1,850 of the accused benefited from the NAB law changes made by the current government, while 550 were benefited by the PTI regime’s amendments.

Around 270 accused were found not guilty under the PTI regime, and 230 had their cases transferred from accountability courts.

Beneficiaries include businesspeople, politicians, and former military personnel. Mr. Zardari, Yousaf Baloch, Rubina Khalid, Saleem Mandviwala, Sher Azam Wazir, Farzana Raja, Haji Saifullah Bangash, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Yousaf Raza Gilani, and Lal Muhammad Khan were the primary PPP leaders who benefited from the amendments.

Their cases were either resolved, moved, or abandoned.

Abdul Qadir, Shaukat Tarin, Sibtain Khan, Liaqat Jatoi, Ghulam Haider Thind, Javed Hussain, and Haji Gul Bar Khan, all members of the GB Legislative Assembly, were among the PTI beneficiaries.

Additionally, the reference to Shaukat Aziz, the previous PM, was returned.

The amendments to the NAB laws also benefited the military. Seven generals who have retired, including Lt. Both Saeed-uz-Zaman and Gen. (ret.) Javed Ashraf Qazi had their cases remanded to the NAB.

Malik Riaz, like a number of businessmen, had his case dismissed as well.

According to the documents, in addition to PM Sharif and Nawaz, PML-N leaders Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Engineer Qamarul Islam, and Mian Nauman transferred their cases from accountability courts.

Imran Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has made numerous claims, one of which is that the Pakistan Democratic Movement coalition only came to power to eliminate corruption cases.
