TIP denies report claiming Pak Army as one of corrupt institutions

Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) has denied categorically a report claiming that the army is the most corrupt institution in the country and termed this as propaganda and disinformation.

According to a report that TIP released on December 9, Pakistan’s police and army are the most corrupt institution. This was a survey report in which people were asked to rank the various departments and institutions in the country that were most prone to irregularities, bribery, and other bad practices.

“A smear campaign against the Pakistan Army is being promoted on social media claiming it to be ‘the most corrupt institution of Pakistan,’ based on a report published by Transparency International,” the TIP has categorically denied its report two months later.

TIP clarifies that neither TI nor TIP has issued a report of this kind, and it rejects such propagandism and misinformation in the strongest possible terms.

Under the 2016 Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, the organization has written to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to ask them to investigate the situation and take action.
