Babar Azam receives ICC Best ODI player and best cricketer awards
Pakistan Cricket Team’s captain Babar Azam received his ICC Awards from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee head Najam Sethi on Wednesday.
For his performances in 2022, the ICC named Babar Azam the Best ODI Cricketer of the Year and presented him with the Sir Garfield Sobers Best Cricketer of the Year awards.
Najam Sethi lauded Babar Azam for his remarkable accomplishments and for contributing to the development of Pakistan through his consistent performances.
He also wished the captain all the best for 2023 and hoped that the team would do well at the World Cup in 2023 under his leadership.
Babar Azam became the first Pakistani player to win an award for two years in a row by winning the ODI Cricketer of the Year award.
Additionally, he pledged to maintain his excellent form and win more Pakistan matches in 2023. In 2022, Babar Azam led all three formats in scoring.
In addition, PCB uploaded a video to their YouTube channel in which Najam Sethi congratulated Babar Azam on receiving the trophy.
PCB Head added that a friend once advised him to keep Babar Azam in mind, and he thanks his friend for his prediction.
He inquired about the run machine’s feelings about being so well-liked at such a young age, and Babar Azam responded that a player needs support both in and out of form.
