F-9 Park rape case suspects shot dead in late-night encounter: ICT police claim
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Thursday claimed killing two suspects of F-9 Park girl rape case in a late-night encounter.
On February 4, two unidentified men gang-raped a woman under gunpoint in the federal capital’s F-9 park.
A man approached the victim and brandished a gun while they were out in the park with a friend.
Before dragging them into a dense area of the park at gunpoint, the accused demanded that they hand over their valuables and other possessions.
She claimed that the suspects held her under gunfire and raped her.
She went on to say that the culprits gave her Rs1,000 and told her not to go to the park after sunset. They returned their belongings, including mobile phones.
The perpetrators were stopped early on Thursday at a Sector D-12 police picket, according to ICT police. Instead of stopping, the suspects opened fire on the police.
The suspects were wounded in retaliatory fire and died before reaching the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The police officials insisted that Safe City cameras were used to locate the deceased suspects.
On the date of the incident, they were clearly visible in the CCTV footage entering and existing through the park gates.
The accused had also been accused of other crimes, the police claimed.
