FIA arrests anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan at Lahore airport
Journalist and anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore in the early hours of Thursday.
On Twitter, Khan’s social media team confirmed the arrest.
According to the team, Imran Riaz Khan was taken into custody by the FIA and arrested at an unknown location; the airport staff misled the public at the scene and escorted him through backdoor entrances, the team said.
Imran wrote in a tweet that a police team was said to be about to arrest some journalists, and that the reason would be defamation of establishment.
He mentioned that he might be arrested at night a few minutes later.
He tweeted, “My phone and other items are being taken away.”
Imran Riaz stated earlier that I have offered to contact the FIA in the event of my arrest.
He revealed that he was traveling to the UAE for family work, but when he got to the airport, he discovered that his name was on the blacklist.
Imran was taken to the cybercrime office immediately following his arrest.
Additionally, they advised that Khan would be brought before the kachehri in Lahore today and that the FIA would request his physical remand.
However, it is currently unknown what led to the arrest.
In the past, On July 6, 2022, Attock Police arrested Imran Riaz because he had been a vocal critic of the current government and the so-called “regime change conspiracy” that was carried out through a no-confidence motion and led to Imran Khan’s removal as prime minister.
