KP police chief fears terrorist attacks during polls
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari has expressed fear of terrorist attacks during elections in the province.
To talk about the upcoming elections in KP, a meeting was held with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja as the chairman.
The commission was informed by the provincial police chief that the force lacked 57,000 election officials.
According to IGP Ansari, there will be 494 attacks on the police force in 2022, and there have been 46 attacks so far this year that have killed 93 police officers. During elections, it is feared that there may be additional attacks.
The IGP stated in the election commission statement that he could not guarantee that the province’s elections will be peaceful.
According to the chief election commissioner, the ECP was in communication with the Interior Ministry regarding the deployment of the army and FC for the elections.
During elections, it is essential to appoint neutral officials, he stated, adding that the necessary appointments should be made immediately to ensure transparent elections.
