‘Leaders like you are PML-N’s pride’: Maryam tells Khaqan Abbasi in Lahore meeting

LAHORE: According to a report in The News on Friday, Senior Vice-President Maryam Nawaz of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) met with former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. She stated that leaders like him are the PML-N’s “pride” and that she wanted to play her role in the development of the party under his “guidance.”

The meeting, according to party sources, dispelled the notion that Abbasi had not accepted Maryam as the party’s senior vice president.

Following her promotion last month, the former premier announced his resignation, stating that he did so to provide the new leader with “space” to work freely.

According to the sources, Maryam had a lengthy conversation with Abbasi in which she reassured him that the leadership of the party had complete faith in him.

“Your sister is me; Maryam was quoted by sources as saying, “I want to play my role in the development of the party and the country under your guidance.”

She assured Abbasi that under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, everyone would cooperate for the party. Maryam stated, “Your eternal sacrifices cannot be forgotten, and leaders like you are the party’s pride.”

Abbasi responded by telling the party’s chief organizer that he had given his life to the PML-N. “Nawaz Sharif is my leader, while Shehbaz Sharif’s guidance has always been with me,” he said, adding that he loved Nawaz and that’s why he was a PML-N member. He also made it clear that he had not separated himself from the party and that he was still in contact with the PML-N supremo and

His remarks were made while he was interacting with members of the media at the Model Town office, where he was meeting Maryam, the Chief Organiser of the PML-N.
