ISLAMABAD: In an effort to join the BRICS, Pakistan has sought help from Russia to join the organization، On Thursday, The News reported, citing Pakistani envoy to Moscow Mohammad Khalid Jamali.
In comments to Russian news agency TASS, the envoy, who has not yet presented his credentials to President Vladimir Putin, Islamabad has applied to join the BRICS and is relying on Russia’s help.
Jamali said Pakistan has already applied for BRICS membership, which will be extended next year with the entry of six new members. He added that Islamabad is hoping to join the group next year under the presidency of Russia.
