Nepra allows 48-paisa hike in power tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Monday approved an increase of 48 paisa per unit in the power tariff on the account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for January 2023.

After hearing the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA)’s plea for a Rs1.17 per unit increase, the power regulatory authority made the decision.

It will apply to all distribution company categories of customers, with the exception of customers of Karachi Electric (KE) and lifeline customers of all ex-WAPDA distribution companies (XWDISCOs).

Customers will incur an additional cost of Rs9.20 billion as a result of the electricity price increase.
